The Origin of Beatrice Diamond
The Queenpin
Before she became the elegant Queenpin of the Diamond Circle, Beatrice Diamond's story began with an unlikely romance.
Her mother was a beautiful pedigree Persian who lived a life of luxury. She spent her days being brushed, admired and thoroughly pampered by her devoted human. As a prized pedigree, she was never allowed outside, where rough-and-tumble neighbourhood tomcats roamed the streets.
One of those tomcats was a young rogue known as Bruiser.
Bruiser wasn't handsome in the traditional sense. He was scruffy, confident, endlessly cheeky and carried himself with the swagger of a cat who feared absolutely nothing. Every evening he'd perch on the garden fence, calling to the beautiful Persian through the window. His antics amused her far more than she cared to admit, and before long she found herself waiting for his daily visits.
One warm afternoon, fate intervened.
A window had been left slightly ajar.
Bruiser, never one to ignore an opportunity, managed to work his paw underneath the frame and nudge it open just enough.
The elegant Persian slipped silently through the gap.
The rest, as the Cat Crimes Archives politely record......is history.
Months later, a litter of kittens arrived.
Their human was horrified to discover that her carefully protected pedigree Persian had fallen for the neighbourhood rogue. Once the kittens were old enough, every one of them was lovingly rehomed to families across the county.
One tiny white kitten found herself living in the flat above Mabel's Coffee Lounge.
Her new humans adored her. She was spoiled beyond belief, brushed daily, fed the finest treats and treated like royalty.
For a while......that was enough.
But beneath her perfectly groomed fur flowed the blood of two very different cats.
From her mother she inherited grace, beauty and impeccable manners.
From Bruiser......she inherited curiosity, confidence and a taste for adventure.
Life as a pampered house cat quickly became predictable.
Whenever her humans were busy downstairs in the café, Beatrice began exploring the neighbourhood. Before long she caught the attention of a discreet all-female criminal organisation.
Unlike the rough street gangs, these cats valued elegance over intimidation, intelligence over violence and planning over chaos.
Beatrice fitted in immediately.
She possessed an extraordinary gift: nobody ever suspected her.
Customers saw a beautiful Persian.
Detectives saw a pampered café cat.
Nobody noticed the brilliant criminal mind quietly listening to every conversation from the comfort of a windowsill.
Her intelligence, patience and natural leadership soon elevated her through the ranks. She transformed the organisation into something entirely new, introducing strict standards, flawless planning and a touch of sophistication that became its trademark.
Under her leadership, the gang earned a new name.
The Diamond Circle.
Today, Beatrice Diamond is known throughout the Cat Crimes underworld as The Queenpin.
She rarely needs to leave Mabel's Coffee Lounge.
After all...every secret eventually finds its way to her.
